As an artist, my goal is to show a world more beautiful than the one I perceive, and I do this through depictions of the human figure, interior scenes, landscapes, and still life. Although varying in content, my work is defined by an artistic process that values observing and recording the world around me as a means of recognizing and emphasizing beauty in color and form. My artistic process often leads to an aesthetic that prizes aesthetics for its own sake, but it also cherishes the revelation of process that comes through the work itself. I am interested in the way drawings and paintings, whether polished or rough, show artistic decisions, doubts, certainties, and the unfolding of an image through the pentimenti of layered marks.
