About Windows and Landscapes
Being an artist is, for me, about being an observer. Sometimes, this is painting a portrait, a nude, or composing a group of people, contemplating the disconnection that happens between observing a moment and taking part in it. This can also be looking out a window or onto a landscape and painting what I see. I turn to these scenes to recenter myself and my work, focusing on the contrast of outside and inside, light and dark, active and still.
